For Our Deaf Patients

Derby Royal School for the Deaf was founded by Dr Willian Roe in 1894. A Royal Charter, establishing the school with charitable status was gifted by Queen Victoria as part of her Diamond Jubilee Celebration.

Friar Gate Surgery is proud to care for a number of Deaf patients. We have signing services, a yearly Deaf Friendly Flu clinic and a dedicated page in our website with much in BSL.

A local friend has created an interesting YouTube video showing details of the original site for the school. We thought you might be interested to see some of the local history around the surgery too.
